There is nothing quite like watching good design land on national television. Australian Select Timbers flooring featured on Channel 7’s My Reno Rules, in collaboration with our valued retail partner Carpet Court — and it held its own in some of the most talked-about room reveals of the season.

If you watched the reveals and found yourself looking at the floors rather than the furniture, this one is for you.

What is My Reno Rules?

My Reno Rules premiered on Channel 7 and 7plus on 21 April 2026, hosted by Dr Chris Brown and backed by LMCT+ founder Adrian Portelli. Four teams of everyday Australians went head-to-head renovating two neighbouring homes in Bulleen, Melbourne — both bought by Portelli and transformed from rundown to genuinely luxurious across the series.

The hook that set it apart from every other renovation show: the finished homes weren’t auctioned. They were given away to two viewers in a live grand final on 2 June, alongside a $1 million prize for the winning team, Mitch and Shaz. Judges Neale Whitaker, Julia Green and Simon Cohen scored every room along the way — and every one of those rooms started with the floor.

Why Flooring Sets the Tone for Every Reveal

A well-designed home is built from the ground up. Flooring is the one finish that touches every room, so it does the quiet structural work in a renovation: creating flow, carrying light, and giving every other decision something to sit against.

Across My Reno Rules, that showed. Natural timber tones gave each space a warm, grounded base that flattered everything placed on top — marble benchtops, light cabinetry, bold feature pieces, layered textures. Get the floor right and the rest of the room has room to breathe. Get it wrong and no amount of styling saves it.

It’s also why timber-look flooring remains one of Australia’s most in-demand renovation choices. Whether the brief is modern minimalist, coastal, earthy or classic, timber tones work — and they keep working a decade later, long after a trend colour would have dated.

Our Top Pick: Berkeley Acoustic Hybrid in Pebble

Berkeley Acoustic Hybrid in Pebble featured in one of the beautifully designed kitchen spaces on the show. It’s warm, soft neutral tone created the perfect base for the luxurious marble finishes, light timber cabinetry and contemporary styling running through the space — present enough to add character, restrained enough to let the rest of the kitchen speak.

Why acoustic hybrid works so well in open-plan renovations

Open-plan living looks brilliant and sounds terrible. Hard surfaces, high ceilings and long sightlines turn ordinary noise into echo, which is exactly the problem an acoustic hybrid is built to solve.

  • 6-star acoustic rating certified by the AAAC — noticeably less noise underfoot than standard timber flooring
  • 1.5mm cork underlay for softer, warmer comfort underfoot
  • Waterproof construction suitable for kitchens, laundries and other high traffic areas
  • 7mm plank, available in 180mm and 230mm widths — wider boards suit larger open-plan spaces
  • Kid and pet friendly with a hardwearing, low-maintenance surface
  • Lifetime limited residential warranty and a 15-year commercial wear warranty

Warmer in winter, cooler in summer, quieter year-round. For a busy family home, that combination matters more day to day than any single design detail.

Designed for the Way Australians Actually Live

Australian Select Timbers collections are built to pair genuine visual quality with the performance Australian households need. Across our engineered timber, hybrid and laminate ranges, you’ll find:

  • Authentic natural timber tones and textures over high-performing cores
  • Timeless colours inspired by Australian light and landscape
  • Outstanding durability for busy, high-traffic households
  • A premium finish that suits both classic and contemporary interiors
  • Long-lasting floors suitable for residential and commercial spaces
  • Responsibly sourced, certified plantation timbers

It’s this combination of style and practicality that made Australian Select Timbers a natural fit for homes designed to impress on one of Australia’s most-watched renovation shows — and the same reason they perform in ordinary homes that never see a camera.

Is hybrid flooring better than engineered timber for a renovation?

Neither is universally better — it depends on the room. Hybrid flooring is waterproof and highly durable, which makes it a strong choice for kitchens, laundries and busy family zones. Engineered timber offers a genuine hardwood surface layer and is beautifully suited to living and bedroom spaces. Many renovations use both.

What does a 6-star acoustic rating mean?

It’s a certified measure of how well a floor reduces sound transmission. A 6-star rating from the AAAC means noticeably less noise underfoot than standard timber flooring — particularly valuable in open-plan living areas and apartments.

Is hybrid flooring suitable for busy households with kids and pets?
Yes. Our hybrid flooring ranges are specifically designed for high-traffic homes, with hardwearing, scratch-resistant, easy-clean surfaces that hold their appearance over years of daily use.
